Nike Lake Hotel Resort in the southeastern city of Enugu was founded in 1988. Built on the banks of the Nike Lake in the Abakpa Nike district to the north of the city, it was an attempt to insinuate modern comforts into a naturally beautiful environment.

For decades the lake had been there, serving as a source of water and fishing grounds for the local people. The coming of the resort in the last 30 years helped change the face of the Nike area, which for long had remained a rustic village unaffected by the pretentions of the city.

The resort has brought lots of visitors and led to the building of new access roads and the emergence of new residential estates in the previously remote village.

Despite the seeming intrusions, the resort maintains is serene look and remains a perfect getaway.

It has more than 200 rooms built on a large sprawling tree-lined premises. There’s an outdoor area by the lake featuring huts and open-air seating where drinks and meals are served to lounging visitors.

Nike Lake Hotel Resort is a mere 12 minute drive to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. Ethiopian Airlines makes international flights to Enugu at least three times a week. There flights as well from Abuja and Lagos. The resort is a popular venue for trainings, workshops and seminars. It’s also popular with families during holidays and festive seasons.
