Gerald Maduabuchi Eze (Ogbuoja) is an accomplished musician: a singer, composer, multi instrumentalist, researcher and teacher of music. Eze has a special love affair with folk musical instruments and plays several. But his choice instrument remains the traditional Igbo flute, or oja. Hence the name, ogbuoja oja, the flutist. Eze, who currently teaches music at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, in Anambra state, Nigeria, talks to journalist and writer Dulue Mbachu about what inspired his musical pursuits.
